It seems like every street has that one house with vegetation poking up out of the gutters. That’s a homeowner who’s asking for all kinds of trouble. Clogged gutters can cause damage to your roof, ceilings and walls, not to mention a cracked foundation if allowed to go on too long. Everyone knows that cleaning the gutters is one of the greatest pains of homeownership, but it’s critically important, especially in the fall. Nothing keeps the water from flowing like a gutter choked with leaves and other yard waste.
A ladder, garden trowel or space, pair of gloves and some lawn bags is about all you’ll need. Once you’ve got the build-up dug out, use the hose to run some water through to clear out anything you might have missed, and make sure your downspouts are working properly.
