Water Quality Test
Approximately 15% of Americans rely on their own private drinking water supplies, and these supplies are not subject to EPA standards, although some state and local governments do set rules to protect users of these wells. Unlike public drinking water systems serving many people, the EPA does not have experts regularly checking the water’s source and its quality before it is sent to the tap. Such households must take special precautions to ensure the protection and maintenance of their drinking water supplies. Best Inspection Service is a provider of water quality testing. A Water Quality Test is a general look at the well water. Samples are taken from a potable source after the fixture has been sanitized. Containers are delivered SOS Analytical to be tested for the presence of bacteria and for levels of nitrates. Results are normally available within 2-4 business days after the samples are received at SOS Analytical.
Hardness, pH, lead, and VOC's can also be added to any water quality test.
Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas that emanates from rocks and soils and tends to concentrate in enclosed spaces, such as houses.
Radon is the number-one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers, according to EPA estimates. Overall, radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer. Radon is responsible for about 21,000 lung cancer deaths every year. About 2,900 of these deaths occur among people who have never smoked.
Having your new home tested is pretty easy:
After twelve hours of closed house conditions, two passive monitor canisters, or Electret Ion Chamber (EIC) monitors, are placed in a sealed room at the lowest level of the home for 48 hours.
The canisters are capped, collected, and overnighted to IMS Laboratory in Commerce Michigan.
Results are available within one to two business after the laboratory has received the canisters.
